Not a bad pic, that. Today’s qualifying was very exciting. Full results below.

Now, that might not seem exciting but both Rosberg and Vettel have grid penalties, so Hulkenburg starts P2 and Button starts P3! Let's hope for a good race tomorrow.

I definitely missed qualifying and something else: why do Rosberg and Vettel have grid penalties? Is it change of PU parts or gearbox, etc.?

Rosberg crashed in FP3 and had to replace his gearbox. Vettel also had to replace his but I don't know why.

The GP2 race has been hilarious. Can’t wait for the GP3 race.

How long until those curbs (kerbs?) kill somebody? It’s a fascinating conundrum. I’ve always wonder why, if they want the drivers to stay on the track, they pave outside the turn at all. I understand the necessity for a run-off area, but if it was grass out there I guarantee the drivers would stay on the asphalt. Having curbs that damage a car is a horrible idea, and one look at Kvyat’s off tells you that the potential for disaster is very real.

The kerbs won’t kill anyone. They aren’t a safety hazard because as a driver you’re not supposed to drive over them, and if you do, it’s your fault. This isn’t a good solution (grass and gravel is) but tracks these days think grass doesn’t look as clean as pavement (cough cough fuck you Tilke cough cough). It’s stupid but we wouldn’t be having this conversation if the track had grass.

Well, Kvyat’s crash was pretty bad, and he could easily have gone sideways into that wall. I agree, the drivers need to stay on the track, but if you are trying to encourage them to do so with curbs that break suspensions, I think that’s a bit severe.

Was it anything like the GP2 race in Baku?

I mean, there could just be a wall there. Same effect. If a driver doesn’t want to break his suspension, he doesn’t drive there. This applies to anything and everything, in and outside of racing. It’s not encouragement to me, it’s enforcement, and it should enforce itself. I’d rather have car-destroying kerbs than penalties to drivers who drift over the white line, but that’s just me.

The hell did I miss this morning?!? I have some catching up to do. And apparently I'm gonna be getting up earlier than planned tomorrow instead of watching the replay.
